We’re a week and a bit into the Beta, things are going pretty well, and, thank you, the majority of the feedback has been extremely positive. Even better, the negative feedback has been very useful. So here’s what we’re working on for our next few updates, which should take us up to the end of April…
- Voting: we’re redesigning the whole voting interface to make the whole process simpler and quicker. The carousel is, I’m afraid, going, though it may make a comeback in a new, improved all-singing all-dancing animated incarnation sometime in the future.
- List discovery: we’ve got loads of lists now, and more are being added every day, both by us and by you lot (thanks!). Unfortunately, as the number grows it’s getting harder and harder to find the list you’re looking for, so we’re completely revamping the whole list discovery process.
- List creation: it’s our favourite feature, but it could be a lot better. It will be, honest.
- List personalisation: We’re adding features that allow you to edit and order the lists on your profile, so even if you’ve voted for 30 odd movies that make you laugh, you can trim the list on your profile down to your top five, or ten, or whatever, without affecting your votes.
So those are the three main areas we’re focussing on, but you may have noticed we (I use the royal we…) have made a few tweaks to speed up the site and make things run a bit more smoothly. We’ll also be updating our databases this week (shamefully, they’re now six months out of date), so if there are new albums or future movies or games you haven’t been able to find, hopefully they’ll be in the new update. We will be moving on to doing weekly or fortnightly updates soon, so our catalogues will never be out of date again…
Anyway, that’s probably enough for now. Thanks for your patience, and feedback and ideas to the usual places please!
John
