  1. What’s even… erm… more next

We’re a week and a bit into the Beta, things are going pretty well, and, thank you, the majority of the feedback has been extremely positive. Even better, the negative feedback has been very useful. So here’s what we’re working on for our next few updates, which should take us up to the end of April…

    • Voting: we’re redesigning the whole voting interface to make the whole process simpler and quicker. The carousel is, I’m afraid, going, though it may make a comeback in a new, improved all-singing all-dancing animated incarnation sometime in the future.
    • List discovery: we’ve got loads of lists now, and more are being added every day, both by us and by you lot (thanks!). Unfortunately, as the number grows it’s getting harder and harder to find the list you’re looking for, so we’re completely revamping the whole list discovery process.
    • List creation: it’s our favourite feature, but it could be a lot better. It will be, honest.
    • List personalisation: We’re adding features that allow you to edit and order the lists on your profile, so even if you’ve voted for 30 odd movies that make you laugh, you can trim the list on your profile down to your top five, or ten, or whatever, without affecting your votes.

So those are the three main areas we’re focussing on, but you may have noticed we (I use the royal we…) have made a few tweaks to speed up the site and make things run a bit more smoothly. We’ll also be updating our databases this week (shamefully, they’re now six months out of date), so if there are new albums or future movies or games you haven’t been able to find, hopefully they’ll be in the new update. We will be moving on to doing weekly or fortnightly updates soon, so our catalogues will never be out of date again…

Anyway, that’s probably enough for now. Thanks for your patience, and feedback and ideas to the usual places please!

  2. What’s next?

The dust is just about settling on the Ditto Beta launch. Hope you’re liking it - most of the feedback we’ve been getting has been positive, so it looks like you are, even if some of you have been having trouble getting to grips with some of the navigation round the site.

Which is why our number one priority for the next few weeks is fixing and refining the site nav. So if you’ve got any particular gripes or examples of confusing language or links, please, please let us know in the comments below, or by emailing us at feedback@ditto.net.

We’re also working on some simple fixes to make the site run faster and smoother (more smoothly?), and updating our catalogues. As usual, if you’ve got any other ideas, please share!

     Thanks!

  3. Ditto Beta! It’s finally here!

Yep, you may have noticed the odd change or two on Ditto… We’ve finally launched the Beta, though, officially, if you’re reading this before Monday(ish), we’re still working on it so you may notice a few rough edges (yes, even more than before…).

We’ll be sending an email out soon explaining the changes we’ve made and how they’ll affect our existing Alpha users - in short, everything you’ve done so far is still there, it just might not be in the same place anymore.

Anyway, feel free to have a play over the weekend, and let us know what you think!
